Delivery of Activity
Individual and Small Group Tuition: £30.50 per hour
Workshops or Whole Class Ensemble Tuition: £33.10 per hour
Bristol Beacon houses the award-winning music education hub for the city of Bristol. We work with inspiring and experienced Freelance Music Tutors from different musical disciplines who teach in a range of settings including in primary, secondary and SEND schools and at our busy music centres in Bristol.
We are currently looking for freelance instrumental and vocal tutors to teach 1-2-1, small group and Whole Class Ensemble Tuition lessons in schools and our music centres.
Candidates will be experienced in teaching two or more instruments to a high standard, from the list of: Piano (& Keyboard), Guitar (acoustic, electric or bass), Drum Kit and Vocals. They should have experience in teaching both informally (e.g. workshops), and teaching formally for grade exams in these instruments, and ideally hold a teaching qualification. Those applying for Whole Class posts should be experienced in the classroom, ideally in primary.
Candidates will also be expected to be highly organised in their personal admin, and already have an Enhanced DBS and safeguarding training certificate.
We are an inclusive practice organisation and as such welcome applications from musicians experienced in working with children whose personal circumstances present certain barriers, including children in care and children with SEND.
Applications are invited from creative musicians from all sections of the community with proven teaching excellence, good communication skills and a passion and commitment for teaching music to children and young people from all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from disabled and ethnically diverse backgrounds as these groups are currently underrepresented within the arts and culture sectors. All of our Freelance Practitioners receive comprehensive and high quality CPD throughout the year, including training, networking, and mentoring.
Please note that teaching generally starts at the beginning of academic terms, and those interviewed in May may not start until September 2026. Please note: Bristol Beacon will only advertise for tutors once or twice a year.
Please note the closing date for this role is 9.00am Monday 24th April 2026.
Candidates should be available in the week commencing 18th May for interview.
